Buried surface hoar

Observed impressive, widespread surface hoar, which was most pronounced between 1600-1900m on the aspects we travelled (NE-E-SE) on Jan 20. On Jan 29, found it perfectly preserved under 3cm of snow. In areas around 1700m, the surface hoar reached 2-5 cm in size.
