Quick Observation

Left the Sawmill parking lot around 0730, -8C, no winds and clear to broken skies, no precip. The cloud coverage until noon kept cooler temps in the alpine as well as at TL. Perfect travel conditions. Several size 2 wet loose observed on solar aspects. The skin track was very thin at times and icy (we did some boot packing across the summit ridge on nice hard surface) Obvious temperature surface crust all the way to the summit (2500m) on most aspects. The NW slopes had good skiing with no crust but required some navigation around remnants of wet loose ice blocks.

Weather

Colder then anticipated with more cloud cover and minimal new snow. Left the area by noon and snow was still dry.

Snowpack

Over 320cm depth at top of knob with 5cm of new snow sitting top a 3cm temp crust. Performed hand shear on NW aspect we skied. A density change caused a planar break about 40cm down on small facets with alot of pressure. Snowpack seemed very supported and stable.
