Quick Observation
Avalanche Information
Two of us were skiing the Ravens. We had stopped and transitioned at the bench at 1920m. We were skiing cat and mouse. I was taking my turn, began riding and heard someone yell “avalanche!”. It I looked back up slope and saw an avalanche cloud heading straight for us. With no real exits and no speed. I cut under a thicket of trees, put my head down and hoped for the best for myself and my ski companion who was 40m upslope of me. The avalanche didn’t reach me. I called my companion on the radio. Debris had rolled by her but she was not involved. Two skiers met up with my friend, asked if she was ok and if the rest of the party was accounted for, then skied off. I’m assuming it was a skier accidental. It would be great to see a min from the skiers. I tried to post a min earlier but it didn’t seem to populate. We approached from the Asulkan. Obviously there was overhead hazard. We discussed all possible triggers and forgot about human triggers outside of our group. A sobering reminder to watch for humans skiing above you and if your skiing watch for humans below you.
