Hasler

Trapper Gilowski, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Our day in hasler started out as a stormy day with big flakes of snow coming down. There was a moderate wind coming from the south west. In our pit we had 3 layers of concern the new snow interface down 25cm reacting in the easy range at (CTE8) further down at 40cm we had a small sun crust layer reacting in the moderate range of (CTM16). Then we had the February facet crust layer reacting in the hard range (CTH23) this layer was sitting down 100cm. On our travels we noticed lots of sluffing on steeper slopes from the new storm snow. On lots of the north east facing slopes we noticed lots of larger slides had come down in the last 48 hours. Wind slabs in the alpine were a concen. South facing slopes are seeing lots of solar effect especially with the warmer temps. Terrain selection is a key part to the game this time of the season. Play safe and have fun!
