Snowpack

We found an averag HS of 65cm (25 inches) which seem to be pretty representative of mid/upper elevations near Targhee on shaded slopes. The snow surface is very weak with very large surface hoar and NSF underneath. There is a crust 48cm up from the ground that is pretty stout and supportable that makes for good turns. The middle of the snowpack is weakening. The snow at the ground is still moist.

My main takeaway is the significant weakening of the snow surface. I was abble to initiate dry loose facet avalanches in very steep terrain.
