Sunny, calm, single digits. Surface conditions were thick variable wind slab with pockets of surface facets at lower elevations. 2,390' N-aspect 25 degree slope. HS 140-195cm. ECTN16 down 30cm that failed above the 1/22 melt-freeze crust on ~1mm faceting rounds. This 5cm weak layer was found in two location 30-40cm deep and was composed of a crust facet sandwich with 1F-4F hardness snow in-between.

Avalanche

Hippy ridge S-aspect 5,000' ran to 3,500'. Looked like less than 48 hours old or even more recent. Naturally triggered. Wet loose D2.5 that entrained quite a bit of debris.
