Quick report
- Red Flags Comment
-
Solidly dust on crust action today. Minor sluffing possible ca. 40 degrees or steeper. Cornices had clearly fall on the Lewis Peak ridgeline during the warm up, with little cornicing remaining in the zone. Looking across to the Skyline and Chilly Peak, wind walls were still present, but not a huge amount of cornicing.

1. Cornice fall. 2. Looking south across the Divide.
Snowpack
Didn't want to miss out on what might be the last powder of the season. Snow this morning was quite well preserved from yesterday, about 10-15cm of rimed forms and graupel. There was breakable crust in the first couple hundred feet above the trailhead. Wind effect indicated yesterday's W/NW winds once above treeline, but this was largely relatively soft, too--certainly softer than I'd anticipated.
