Quick report
Moderate and gusty wind out of the southwest was actively loading snow onto exposed, leeward aspects from 9,000’ – 10,000’. New soft slabs appeared to be 4-8” deep and were confined to steep features that were heavily loaded. Conditions were still windy below 9,000’, however, there wasn’t much snow available for transport making significant new slab development unlikely today. By 1pm, snow surfaces had moistened on southerly aspects below 9,000’ due to intermittent periods of sun.
Observed a very small (4” deep) soft slab that had released in the bowl by the northernmost exploder. Appeared to be skier triggered. About 20’ wide and ran maybe 40’. We also observed some dry loose sluffing in steep north facing terrain at 9,000’. Finally, some small wet loose activity on solar slopes below 7,800’. Classic spring. Cold and windy on the boot pack. Gusty southwest wind was actively transporting snow in exposed spots. Temperatures became noticeably warmer at around 7,800'. Intermittent snow showers mixed with periods of sun.
