Quick report
We traveled up to 8300' today and found large amounts (20+ inches) of light-density snow covering all aspects. The new snow was not yet subject to the wind in protected areas as we saw no evidence of wind transport on our travels to this elevation. Dug a snowpit on a W aspect where we found a total depth of 47 inches. Facets were buried 21 inches and scored an ECTP23 just below a decomposing crust. Lower down, the rain crust from earlier this year is still present and hard but has started to change appearance compared to previous pits. Snow fell consistently throughout the day, with little to no wind experienced. When we started our exit around 3 pm, we noted a slight uptick in wind and precipitation rates. On a separate note, we made contact with a group of riders who remote-triggered an avalanche somewhere near Mud-Pass. No specific details were available other than it was triggered from a large distance.
