Investigated propagation propensity on Jan 4th weak layer with a long column test. Wanted to gather information on the persistent slab problem at the upper end of the mid elevation band...one more data point, following the loading events of the last few days. "Per American Avalanche Association and Forest Service Snow, Weather and Avalanche Observation Guidlines for a PST, "Fracture propagation is considered to be likely only if fracture propagates to the end of the column along the same layer and initiates when the length of the saw cut is less than 50% of the length of the column."" Minimal cracking around skis in areas with more wind effect.
