Quick report

The most important observation we made was that the snowpack is highly varied across the terrain. Pole probing on our tour showing widely different layering, and depth of layers all across the terrain. Matching the avalanche advisory from the past week, and this weekend. Skiers in left gully reported finding areas of softer drifted snow on the far climbers right of the gully, in the sheltered areas beneath the cliff band, though they didn't see any reactivity there. While there was new snow falling, we observed no wind transport off the Ridgelines. The new snow is very light density, and will be transported easily next time the winds increase

Light snow (S-1) all morning with calm winds

Snowpack

Dug a quick hasty pit on our ascent up the Broccoli Trees @ 4650' on a south aspect to check out the layering of the upper snowpack. 5cm of new dry snow had fallen on top of a very firm, supportable wind affected layer. Below that, the snow was upside down on top of the Dec. 30 Rain Crust (see photos for pit image). 70cm of snow was found above the crust in that location. We found no signs of reactivity at the location of the hasty pit, or anywhere else on our tour.
