Quick report
Several hand tests and a quick pit around 11600’ on a west aspect revealed slight surface instabilities 4cm down from the snow surface. In a hand test I noticed isolated cracking and chunking atop a crust at around 23cm down from the snow surface. Further investigation revealed some cracking at that depth. There was no propagation and the bond was stubborn. I pulled off a cohesive slab with a shovel shear test but it was very delicate and broke apart easily.
The only signs of recent avalanching was on the south side of Cassaval Ridge, likely from high temps the day before.Weather

Snowpack
From base to around 9200’ or so the surface of the snow was home to a 1-4 inch breakable crust atop fairly dry, soft, and sugary snow. At around 9200’ the crust became almost imperceptible especially on W/NW aspects that were hidden from the sun and wind. The underside of wind lips were a dry powder haven. Soft powdery snow continued on W/NW aspects up to 12000’ and likely beyond.
