Near and above tree line, sw winds were transporting snow. We experienced localized cracking from recent wind deposits near tree line, although most locations had only received shallow deposits so far. It is possible deeper drifts formed today in the alpine. - We observed multiple wet-loose point releases likely from this past weekends snow on west and east facing aspects; D1 to 1.5. No crowns visible to us. No recent natural avalanche activity that we could see. -On our descent we moved over to some steep gully features below tree line. Ski cuts here produced roller balls and wet-loose sluffing up to D1 in size; A few inches of snow over a slick melt-freeze made sluffs run easy and fast on steep low elevation north facing terrain. -localized cracking in recent wind deposits near tree line. Depth ranged from thin wind skin to 6” + in specific features actively being loaded.

Winds increased from sw throughout day. Up to 50+ mph near tree line. Day started sunny but quickly turned into clouds and moderate snowfall by late afternoon

- patchy snow coverage around mono village, but consistent coverage above in horse creek drainage - 9400’ near tree line; north facing: HS 270 cm+; 20 cm 4F snow over variable firm crust.
