I went up into Logan Dry Canyon to look at the snow. I dug data pits on Little Mountain, W @ 7700' and near the crown of the Oscar Mayer avalanche (1/18/19), NW @ 8900'
I found stable snow for now, but there were shallow areas near rocks or in the tree where I would sink deeply into very loose sugary facets. Also, there's widespread weak surface snow in the area, consisting of small grained sugary near surface facets and feathery frost crystals called surface hoar.
