There was a large cohesive slab of what looked like fresh snow from a storm last week from 80cm - 35cm that sat on top of an ice crust which was on top of a mix of ice layers and sugar snow. When we tested the snow it always failed with a sudden drop with full propagation across entire test block from the elbow (or mid way through the test) at about 35cm. We also heard whoomfing throughout the day. It appeared to be great snow pack on top of a bad base.
