Triggered via ski cut when dropping into our line. While sort of intentionally triggered, we were surprised/ alarmed by the size of the avalanche. It had momentum and ran 100-150 yards, taking out the skin track we came up.
We had seen previous signs of avalanches, but almost all had been point release sluffs with less momentum. We thought that the bit of wind that hit the ridge was enough to consolidate it into a slab that propagated farther than we expected.
After skiing down we found a point release on the drainage next to the one we came down (photo 4).
