Numerous human and natural avalanches triggered on the south facing terrain on Superior-Little Superior over the last few afternoons. These avalanches failed on southerly facing slopes but also had east and west aspects.
Forecaster Comments: There has been a lot of late afternoon travel noted on the southerly facing slopes above SR 210. As we continue to transition into a spring snowpack (diurnal) the best advice we can offer is to start early and finish early. This prevents you from being involved with deeper wet slab avalanches that could cause problems to other's who are not traveling directly in avalanche terrain, but also keeps the integrity of the snow surface smoother to maintain the quality of the travel. If you trigger an avalanche in terrain above the highway, AND NO ONE IS HURT or needs help, please notify Alta Central to avoid a needless response by rescue teams.
