Previous southwest winds had transported snow over the ridge and down onto the Ice Box. Snowfall and wind from the northwest picked up around 11:30 AM today. On the east side of Porter Fork, howling wind gusts were swirling through the terrain and blowing snow from a southerly direction. Dug a snowpit on a NE aspect at 8,700 feet which had a HS of 90 cm. I performed an ECT and did not get propagation but I don't feel great about the layers of facets at 60-70 cm and near the ground so I'll be avoiding any steep terrain where that structure exists.
