Although the early season basal facets were rounding, significant temperature gradient present from the recent cold weather and temperature swings, along with the shallow snow pack at this elevation will be reversing this process over the days(or weeks) of high pressure to come. The surface snow was rapidly faceting with a strong temperature gradient of almost 2 C per 10cm throughout much of the snowpack. Our primary layer of concern observed was a layer of bonding, but not bonded, faceted crystals 30cm above that was found lying above a stout wind board. Still suspicious after negative ECT results we performs a propagation saw test on this layer with the following results: PST 45/100 END.
