In more open terrain near ridge top snow is variable with obvious signs of wind transport from earlier this week. Northerly aspects were holding cold snow and good turns, especially where trees could help protect from the wind. On lower angle south aspects we found creamy turns but the full sun was clearly starting to affect these slopes below 5500 feet. With a return to cloudy skies and below freezing temps I'd expect that the south aspects won't be much fun to ski for a while. While traveling we performed multiple hand shears and the only consistency we saw was inconsistency. For example at 6000 ft on SE slope the hand shear broke clean 6"-7" thick Q1/Q2. On more SW slope there was little to no slab development at all which speaks to the erratic nature of the winds we received.
