Quick report
Started from Bunny Flat at 3pm. Snowflakes were falling on Everitt as low as about 6000', but nothing was sticking until at least 6500'. There was about 2" of moist dense new snow/graupel at Bunny Flat. Below about 7500' total snow depth is somewhat patchy, but skinning is straightforward. Coverage is more consistent in open areas, versus areas around trees that had previously melted out to the ground and were covered just by the new snow. The lower gulch proper had reasonably consistent coverage but definitely a few obstacles just barely covered by the new snow. Above 7500' coverage is more consistent. Only light wind at my high point of 7900' in the Gulch. The west side of Green Butte Ridge below treeline has patchy coverage...still skiable but only with caution. Above 8000' on the east side of GBR old snow coverage became more consistent, and the new snow was a bit drier. Gusty light/moderate breeze at my high point of 8400' on GBR, just enough for minor wind transport. The west side entrance to the lower Sun Bowl at 8300' looked pretty melted out with just the new snow covering rocks. Ski quality down the west side of the west ridge of Sun Bowl was actually pretty good above 8000'. Between 8000' and 7500' I started having to navigate around partially buried obstacles, and below 7500' I was pretty much in full "pick my way down" mode. SE aspects seem to have been the most melted out. Everitt had consistent snow coverage back to Bunny Flat but a few spots where it looked like all the old snow had melted out. Retuned to BF at 530pm. No wind effect on any of the new snow I observed. Light/moderate snow/graupel fell on and off throughout my tour with only a fraction of inch of accumulation. No cracking observed in any of the new snow.
