Cracking

Numerous cornice failures were observed in the area along with shooting cracks across wind slabs on similar aspects (little to no snow was present on other aspects). Snowpack was incredibly reactive in certain areas. I caused numerous shooting cracks and small cornice failures from over 100 yards away. I did not dig any pits but suspect some protected north facing slopes retained a layer of surface hoar throughout yesterday's wind storm which then experienced substantial wind loading. Significant depth hoar was also present in areas where I got off my machine and walked around.

Avalanche

Slide triggered at approximately 3900' on Carlo Mountain on a north facing slope. Slide was remotely triggered when I rode by on a snowmachine about 150 yards away. Slide did not travel far as it was on a very low angle slope; I measured it from afar at 27 degrees. The thickest parts of the crown appeared to be 24-30" was approximately 300-400' across.
