Observation: Naomi Peak

1. The snow scope probe snow profile is from an east-facing slope around 9800', near the summit of Naomi Peak.

3. The drifted in crown of an avalanche of wind drifted snow in Castle Rock

We didn't find any powder.  A stout rain crust caps the snowpack to nearly 8500' in the Tony Grove Area.  Dense, heavily rimed snow and graupel accumulated up high, and it was hammered by strong winds, which transformed the landscape.  Most of the snow we traveled in was quite supportable, with ride anywhere conditions.
