Quick report
*** There is a monster glide crack directly over the uptrack, right next to two big glide avalanches that have released over the past two days. This is a major concern, because these avalanches release without warning.
We rode up to the weather station to do some quick maintenance, and stayed in the trees on the front side where visibility was good and surface conditions were great. We dug one pit and found multiple weak layers of buried surface hoar in the upper 2' of the snowpack. This will be a big concern as the next storm adds more weight to the snowpack.
The bottom part of the uptrack is slick right now and a little tricky to climb, just a head's up.
Another new glide avalanche just south of the uptrack. There is also a gaping glide crack directly above the uptrack.Weather

Increasing cloud cover through the day. Light precip in the afternoon. Light winds out of the east, picking up through the day.
Snowpack
We dug a pit at about 2200' in the trees below the weather station. We found two layers of buried surface hoar very close to each other about 2' deep, below a crust that was about 2" thick. The lower layer was reactive in our pit (ECTP15), suggesting poor stability. The snow surface also currently has a fresh layer of surface hoar on it. All of this will be concerning as the next storm unfolds. We also noticed widespread glide avalanche activity and a ton of glide cracks. One is directly above the common uptrack on the front side, which makes us very nervous for people coming up and down from Seattle Ridge.
