Quick report
We skinned up above 2500 ft. to ski but also to see what the forcasters have been observing in the upper snowpack. We dug a pit at 2620 ft. on a north aspect. There was 2 cm of new snow. The upper 60 cm's appeared to be a mixed bag of moist rounds and rounding facets except for the 3 to 4 cm's of sugary facets above the melt freeze crust. Tests resulted in a ECTN23 down 20 cm on degraded surface hoar/facets and a PST 50/100 END down 60 cm. HS 230 cm. Temps were warm 40+ at 1:30. Skies were broken to overcast. We didn't observe any signs of instability while skinning or skiing. We skied primarily low angle terrain.
