Quick report

Cracking
isolated

We took advantage of the final day the Camas Road will be open to vehicles for the 2024-25 winter. This annual closure begins New Years Eve with the road reopening to vehicles in mid to late-April.

  • The conditions were similar to Monday except for a slight uptick in wind speed. This left a thin, soft cohesive layer on the surface in isolated locations near ridgelines.
  • We did not find evidence of a storm slab problem or other instabilities on the southerly slopes we traveled.
  • Cornices on northerly aspects showed minimal evidence of growth since the Christmas storms began.
  • Today's cooler temperatures slightly improved the ski quality at low and mid elevations.
  • Visibility remained obscured and did not allow views of adjacent terrain.
We experienced cracking beneath our skis in wind affected terrain near ridgelines. This involved a 1-2 inch surface layer. Cracks confined to a foot or so in length.
