Skied Cougar Creek East on Monday, April 3rd. Uptrack was very lousy in the trees and required boot packing in places, or very skillful/moderately high risk skinning. None of the fresh snow made it through the canopy. Dug a pit down to about 2m on a 35deg slope, until we found the depth hoar layer. We could not get it to fail either in an ECT, or with the whole pit wall cut and a skier jumping on it. The snowpack was fully upright down to the top of the depth hoar. Skiing was good! A little lumpy under the freshies and a bit of a dust on crust vibe at the bottom, but really quite good. Face shots and everything.
