The field team travelled to Atlin today to install a weather station on Surprise Mountain, travelling alongside two Taku River Tlingit First Nation Land Guardians. The link for the station will be available shortly. The snowpack at treeline is is approximately 100 cm. The day was cold (between -18 and -25), the wind was light, and the sledding would have likely been pretty alright had we not been freezing fingers installing the WX. Minimal wind effect on recent storm snow and no natural slides were observed. Overall, the snowpack remains thin with facets at ground making stuck sleds a real thing. Stay tuned for more info on the new Atlin weather station.
