Quick Observation

Today we had partly cloudy skies, warm temperatures and light winds at Seaton. We found the new rain crust from yesterdays rain event all the way up to 1800m. In the alpine it was supportive to skis and we enjoyed some dust on crust turns, but in the treeline the crust is breakable…. We saw one large slab avalanche from a steep, rocky, lee feature. We also saw several small loose wet avalanches from steep alpine features from yesterday. We investigated the late February surface hoar layers again, but on a N aspect at 1550m we weren’t able to produce any significant results.
