Weather obs: Switch to rain occurred at 7:15am for all elevation bands below 3800’. Once precipitation started, it remained light (R-1) until we exited the field. Cloudy with L west winds. Snowpack obs: Below 3400’, HS is approx. 30cms with free water to ground in the entire snowpack. Above 3400’ in openings: HS is 60cms, w/ HS approx. 40cms in forested closures. A P hard surface crust formed above the water laden new snow (4F+) which sits above the ground.
