Quick report
A sunny calm day for a gentle jaunt toward Windy Acres. Plenty of snow on the cross-country trails. It's a real shame that the Summit isn't keeping them groomed -- it'd extend the season for the entire XC-community. Snowpack was ~10cm of soft snow (often topped with breakable crust) atop a very supportable base. Surprised to find sparkling facets on the surface, though the warming of the day will surely have melted most of it by day's end. Also surprised to find dry snow above 4k on truly-shady aspects. Look for shady glades free of tree-drips. After mid-day, most sunny north-facing slopes' breakable crust had softened into skiability. In another surprise, that 10cm of soft snow didn't impede skating too badly; didn't need skins except for the big climb back to Grand Junction. Looking around the Pass, the snowcover down low west of the Pass is, um, gone. At higher elevations, loose-wet activity was evident on all aspects. Saw a tiny slab had pulled out at the very crest of Rampart below a cornice, otherwise no slabs observed.

Assorted loose-wet widespread throughout the Pass. Mostly small.
