Quick report
It was a nice day to be out, warm (still below freezing) with no wind. Started the morning out with broken clouds and it became progressively overcast throughout the day, starting to snow lightly in the early afternoon. Snow was noticeably heavier below ~4500’ and sticky below 3500’. Skis penetrated ~12” up high. A column test on open NNE slope at 5600’ yielded the following results: CTM 14 planar collapse 20 cm down. This seemed to be a storm layer, fist to 4 finger. CTH 29 planar collapse 50 cm down. This slab was finger to pencil. We pulled on the remaining snow and it sheared 95 cm down on two thin layers of unhealed facets 15 cm above moist rounding grains. Suspecting this is the persistant weak layer.
