Quick report
We observed a small natural D1.5 avalanche in Salt Creek bowl at 8100' on a North aspect. It appeared to have failed within the last 24 hours. It was easy to get the top 6" of snow to crack when skinning above a lower skin track.

Overcast skies, light snow, moderate winds from the SE.
Snowpack
6" of snow at 6100', 12-18" above 7000'. 2/26 melt-freeze crust on all aspects except North. The wind was making snow upside down (4F over F). We dug several hand pits on a variety of aspects and elevations as we moved through the terrain. We found no buried surface hoar in any of these pits.
