Powderhouse

I started skinning at 6am to get in some riding before the storm arrived. It was appoximatly 35 degrees with a misty rain in the air. I went to a spot east of the true summit to drop in and rode back down to the start of the skin track with no incident or signs of instability. While transitioning for a second lap I met a random person on their way up and we started skinning up together using the same skin track I used previously. The rain had now turned to a steady snow and accumulated approximately .25 inches. At a switchback skier one made their kickturn, as I approached the switchback there was a large whoomph and I felt the snowpack collapse. Skier one was uphill and to lookers right approximately 15 feet and did not feel the collapse but heard the whoomph and saw me suddenly drop slightly. We made the easy decision to transition and ride down together from there. We did not observe any cracking. The site of the whoomphing/collapsing was at approximately 8,700 feet elevation on a 30-35 degree, N-NW facing slope at 8:04am while skinning
