Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Skier triggered avalanche beneath a convexity on a steeper slope than skied previously. Crown was 12-18” and a medium size area slid (see photo from where skier stopped). No burial or injuries We were seeing many signs of slabs being able to go with hand pits and skiing of small test rolls. We saw primarily evidence of wind slabs up high.

Snowpack

The day started with varying snow density at different elevations. It seemed lightest up high near summits, got densest in middle elevations (maybe 1200-1400m?) and lighter again in valleys. The day warmed up and there was light precipitation creating frozen crust.
