Quick report
Just a bit of driving and looking for avalanches in the late afternoon. With marginal light I observed a number of large and very large avalanches in the Sawtooths. Avalanches observed were generally in the southern and central portion of the range. I'm certain that there are a number of other large avalanches to be seen out there. Will be interesting to see what gets spotted in the coming days.

There was a significant cycle of large to very large avalanches in the Sawtooths during the recent warm, wet storm. These slides likely all released during heavy loading on 12/9. I observed avalanches in middle and upper elevation terrain on SE-E-NE aspects. Based on other snowpack observations, these avalanches likely failed on weak, faceted snow that developed above the mid-November drought/rain crust.
