Average HS ranges from 5-10cm at pass level and increases fairly quickly as one gains elevation to around 60cm at our high point of 5,300ft. A strong supportable crust at 4,000ft tapers and was non-existent above 5,000ft. Snowpack becomes dense, dry snow with a very thin crust in the middle at 5,300ft. Ski pen at 5,300ft was 20cm, while boot pen was 60cm to ground. No notable layers of concern in the areas we traveled, though surface hoar was growing on the skiff of new snow over the thick crust at ~4,800ft and below. 

We were afforded great views, and snow coverage looked to change dramatically from bare ground in low, south facing terrain to an actual snowpack in true alpine terrain, on high leeward slopes, etc.
