100cm HS in most protected zones we probed. 60-80 in others. North aspects held great wintery snow, south and west aspects were shallow but skied quite well early morning in the cold. Later in the day, sun aspects got a little crusty. There was Loads of wind transport and wind slab buildup throughout. We had 5 or 6 large and loud collapses while traveling on skins through generally flat areas that had not been affected by wind or much sun. We did not get any collapsing while skiing. There was small evidence of old cracks and slab fractures from the storm cycle that had been blown over by wind. We skied conservatively and stuck to our plan for the day despite seeing tracks and riders venturing out into other terrain. There seemed to be a lot of people out enjoying the gorgeous day. But most were following others previous tracks. Temps stayed cold all day but with the sun out the snow did change slightly on top due to warming on Sun aspects. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a sun crust under the new storm snow coming in. As expected, there were numerous different weak layers below the snow we were traveling on.
