Quick report
Snow level started around 5,800' but consistent coverage is aspect dependent. A few inches of wet snow on top of a stout crust - generally 1-2" but a few deeper wind drifted spots. New snow mostly bonded well to the underlying crust - it started to push down/slide off of the crust in spots while skinning up but didn't run further on its own and we didn't push anything down while skiing out, despite dropping at 2pm on a day of full sun. Observed only a few sparse, small roller balls here and there on the way out. Things felt very stable overall. Some cornices hanging on along the ridge lines and a large one looming over the climbers left route up to Abernathy so we stuck climbers right. Biggest hazard by far was tons of blowdowns along the trail - I think any trails in the area will be difficult for awhile until they're able to be logged out. NF-4440 requires high clearance vehicle due to washouts. Crosstrek made it ok.
