Quick report
Two other hikers and I were attempting Canyon Peak on 11/16/2025. At about 7:30am we were putting on our crampons at Wyant Lake when we saw a small/medium size avalanche on the North aspect of Wyant Peak. We did not trigger this avalanche although the temperature had been above 32 degrees for well over 3 hours. We got 100 feet below the access point on the North Ridge of Canyon (roughly 8300ft) and tested the snow. There was 90cm of total snow with minimal new snow. There was also a pretty weak layer down towards the bottom.
