Quick report
We traveled between 5500 and 8400 ft starting at 930am/31 degrees/cloudy/breezy from the SE. Warmer temps on Saturday 1/31 had been the first real warm-up in a while (over 40 degs in McCall) and on Sunday the snow was soft/saturated than of late below ~6500ft. There was some crust between 6500 and 7k ft. Snow was colder and lighter above that and the ~1 inch that fell on Tuesday pm 1/27 was still evident as new snow. Winds from the SE increased throughout the day/mostly felt above 7200ft and we observed older and increasing wind-effect on those aspects during travel. However, given little new snow, transport was minimal. We noticed some small cornices on N aspects. Sheltered north slopes continue to retain cold, soft snow. Where less sheltered, lack of new snow has caused wind-effect, but minimal loading due to lack of snow to transport. The day was mostly cloudy, but with some periods of sun. We observed some softer/stickier snow at lower elevations during our exit, but otherwise limited signs of warming. Temp was ~40 when we ended our tour at 3pm.
