Skinned the Cog with objective to ski Burt Ravine. Despite extreme winds from the north and west in the last 48 hours, we observed more new snow in this area than anticipated. We found some highly reactive wind slabs above 4725', observing shooting cracks and collapsing in protected areas along the Cog on the windward aspects. We observed continued extreme winds and snow blowing into the top of Burt Ravine from the north around 11 a.m. These observations combined with poor visibility, led us to scale back our plans and enjoy the Cog.
