Went to the Incline Peak area to see how rain has effected the upper snowpack and make some observations of the Feb 10 layer. Snow surfaces were supportable to ski travel in open areas and less so in heavily forested areas. Foot pen ranged from 30-50cms. Rain runnels are obvious throughout the area, as well as some ponds of water on top of the snowpack in low lying areas. I dug a profile on a N aspect at 8350' in an area where I'd found the Feb 10 layer previously. HS was 170-180 cms with the Feb 10 interface 55 cms down from the surface. The upper snowpack showed obvious signs of water percolation and formation of new wetted layers and rain crusts. Feb 10 facets were 4f hardness and wet. ECTX and PST 65/100 end on this layer at this location. On my way back to the car, the skies cleared slightly, allowing for better visibility. Rollerballs were observed in steep and rocky terrain but no significant avalanche activity.
