Quick report
There was around 4 inches of new snow in the Tamarack Peak area today. Graupel was present at the base of the new snow and also falling throughout our tour. While it was windy on the ridge and some snow was being moved, we didn't find much wind drifted snow that had been hardened by the wind yet. The new snow improved the quality of the skiing in this area and it is also creating more of slab over areas that have lingering weak facets. We examined these weak layers in a cold location below the ridge and while the facets remain weak, at least at this location, at this time we did not have enough of a slab above them to see alarming results. It will be worth monitoing this over the next few storms to see how this changes.

We started touring during a period of heavy snow that mostly ended before we departed the area. Winds were strong on the ridge but we did not observe much firm windslab.
