Mt Hood: South Side

Firm, slick travel and lingering wind slabs ranging in depth/sensitivity/ distribution is the name of the game around the Mt. Hood zone right now. The rain/snow line from our Jan 5th warm-up currently sits around 7500 ft, so be ready to manage both wet and dry snow avalanche problems depending on what side of the line you play on in the coming days. Surfaces are firm and the slide for life risk is real above 6000 ft, so be sure to pack the proper gear to manage this hazard. Below treeline elevations consist of less desirable wet, punchy snow surfaces and rain runnels.
