Quick report
You can reliably skin about half way up the road between the Eldo gate and Cascade Pass parking TH (~1.5-2 miles). We skied Saturday and Sunday- Saturday northern aspects, Sunday southern aspects. The coverage in both basins below the Pass still maintains great coverage. Pass was exceptionally windy this weekend so soft chalky snow collected behind the stand of trees west of the Pass, and in nooks near the pass. All other snow was really stiff windboard and/or crust- too stiff to skin without the ski crampons. Windboard was sitting on a lot of low density snow. Northern aspect snow did not soften up Sunday. Words to describe the snow thrown around in the parking lot were "bony" and "well that was something". Winds reached some wild speeds above 8000', I would guess 30-40 mph. All the snow up high was chalky or windboard in basins, even on southern aspects (Sahale peak). Sahale summit pyramid has a thick sun crust. Pleasant skiing was on southern aspects overall, with snow softening @ ~ 2 pm. As you would guess, no surface hoar to be found anywhere.
