Quick report
Evidence of avalanches in storm snow with various depths and moisture. Appeared only 2-4” or so accumulated on the moraine which was moist and gloppy, but once more protected on the glacier was relatively dry with 2-3” of slab and soft, dry snow underneath. Observed cracks on Colchuck N ridge ~6,000’-6,500’ NE and also against Dragontail ~7,000’ WNW. Thicker wind textured slab ~7,800’ with fierce W winds. Big cornice climbers right of the buttress at the col, lots of rime coming off Dragontail.
Avalanche
Colchuck Glacier moraine/north ridge, NE ~6,000’-7,000’ Largest avalanche was D2 probably during the Sunday/Monday system just above the boulder field. Above the moraine basin several nondestructive point releases 2-4” from recent storm snow. Skinning up the moraine at 1030 got a 2” ski length slab to run ~150’ on a hard, moist bed surface, N.
