Alpental

I rode lifts today to get a quick weather station project done and then spyglass around to catalog avalanche activity. The warm and wet weather certainly produced plenty of slides, with debris spotted on most steep slopes. Larger slabs were spotted on Granite, Humpback, Red, Kendall, and Chair to name a few.  We've lost a lot of snow. Rocky ledges are bare and lower elevations, particularly west of the Pass are beat up. Other items of note were the large number of glide cracks and the large amounts of water pouring out of the snowpack. Creeks, waterfalls, and other holes have opened up. It has certainly been a wet week...

I didn't spend much time examining the snowpack, but it is generally warm and weak. Whatever stiffness occurred overnight on the surface quickly broke down in the morning hours.
