On the way up we found lots of variable conditions. Some ?sun effect on South slopes around 1700m. Towards the ridge we found variable conditions with pockets of surface hoar below ~1800m and significant wind effect even, in the trees, above more so on NE aspect than more south facing. Ridge at treeline was heavily effected with variable wind slab pockets around 1900m extending from north to east facing. Some of which was sitting on top of a very unsupportive and unsettling layer. Variable seems to be the word of the day! Found some decent turns on the way down. Conditions improved as we got lower with 5cm of nice snow on supportive crust in spots making for a pleasant tour. The last if the sun disappeared and clouds thickened obscuring the ridge behind us as we escaped in front of what looks like the leading edge of the incoming storm.
