Ski up angus creek today. Wet/rain affected snow up until around 1600m then accumulations of 10cm+ overnight above 1700m. Total storm snow varied from 15-40cm, light to moderate S winds moving some snow around in exposed areas. Around 2150m wind effect became more evident. Snowed about S1/S-1 all day. We turned around at 2300m, ~100m below ridge line in the last tree stand. We saw a recent wind slab that released at ridge line 20-50cm deep, propagating over 200m across slope (see pics) and running down to the usual turn around point. Turned around and enjoyed some good turns down a mellow tree run. No signs of whumphing or shooting cracks during the day.
Wind slab release above the usual ski run and transition zone, propagated over 200m and ran up to 100m, crown from 20-50cm deep. Shallow deposits, didn’t look like quite enough to bury someone in most spots. Dusted a couple tree stands in the transition zone closer to the main avy path.
